Data protection policy

Action Education, in its capacity as data controller, attaches the greatest importance to the confidentiality of information. Action Education undertakes to protect the privacy of all the public with whom it has a relationship, whatever the medium.

In accordance with the Federal Data Protection Act (DPA) and the European Data Protection Regulation of 25 May 2018 "RGPD", Action Education details in this data protection policy how it processes and protects the personal data it collects and hosts.

Action Education Suisse was established in 2002 as an association under Swiss law. Its registered office is at Rue de Vermont 9A, 1202 Geneva. It is represented by Yves Tapiero, its Chairman.

THE PUBLIC 

The public concerned by this policy are in particular employees and former employees of the association, applicants, donors, prospective customers, volunteers, visitors to our website, people supported in the context of our projects, partners, etc. Any person in contact with Action Education.

DATA COLLECTED BY ACTION EDUCATION

The personal data collected by Action Education includes:

1. Identification details: surname, first name, title, date of birth ;
2. Contact details: postal address, email address, telephone number;
3. Transaction data: bank details, amount and date of donation, etc.
4. Connection data: date, time, IP address, traces, logs, cookies ;
5. Life data: link with Action Education, centre of interest, personal or professional life, family life, data required for proper monitoring of individuals, etc.

THE PURPOSES OF PROCESSING

Action Education is an association for development through education, with no political or religious affiliations. For 40 years, it has provided access to quality education for the most vulnerable and marginalised groups, particularly children, girls and women.

Action Education's mission is to :

• To raise awareness among the general public of the realities on the ground, the issues inherent in development through education and the educational problems faced by the populations the association supports. 
• To coordinate its projects in collaboration with the teams in the countries where the association is present.

In order to fulfil its missions, Action Education collects your personal data for the following purposes in particular:

1. Administrative management of donations and issue of tax certificates
2. Managing members
3. Managing your applications (for volunteering, jobs and/or work placements)
4. Managing your human resources
5. Communication campaigns and appeals for donations.
6. Organising and running internal and external events.
7. Managing relations with donors and prospects
8. Managing relations with service providers and suppliers.
9. Managing your requests (information, sending newsletters, exercising your personal data rights).
10. Website management (browsing, cookies)
11. Statistical analysis
12. Meeting legal obligations.

If Action Education were to use your personal data for a purpose other than that defined, we would inform you and give you the opportunity to object.

Your data is collected directly from you, for example, when you make a donation or fill in a form. It may also be collected indirectly through a partner, for example.

LEGAL FOUNDATIONS

Each processing operation carried out by Action Education has a legal basis. For example, Action Education uses the following legal bases:

• Compliance with a legal obligation to which the association is subject (e.g. issuing tax certificates following donations)
• The pursuit of the association's legitimate interests, in particular to manage its exchanges with its public, to send information on its latest news, to respond to your requests or to thank you for your donation.

We put in place appropriate technical and organisational measures to guarantee the security and confidentiality of your data.

Action Education endeavours to work only with subcontractors and partners who guarantee reliable measures that comply with our requirements to comply with the regulations in force.

We keep your personal data for a period that is strictly necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and processed and that complies with legal obligations and the principle of minimisation.

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL DATA

Action Education only passes on the data it collects to its authorised internal departments, its partners and its appointed subcontractors insofar as this is strictly necessary to achieve the purpose(s). All persons having access to the data are bound by a written and signed confidentiality obligation.

Your data may be passed on to the tax authorities or a supervisory authority in the event of a reasoned official request.

TRANSFER OF PERSONAL DATA OUTSIDE THE EUROPEAN UNION

Action Education endeavours not to transfer personal data outside the European Union. If, in the course of processing, personal data is transferred to a third country that does not offer an adequate level of protection, Action Education will ensure that appropriate safeguards are put in place with the recipients to secure your personal data.
