The project aims to boost entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for women, particularly from ethnic minorities.
Young girls, particularly those from rural areas, are disadvantaged and do not benefit from the same economic and educational opportunities. They are under-represented in the education system and do not have the opportunity to make their voices heard. From a social, political and economic point of view, girls and young women do not have the same access to resources, rights and treatment as boys and young men.
The various forms of discrimination against girls and young women stem in part from cultural and stereotypical practices that are at the root of social norms that place women at a disadvantage. Access to quality education and medical care, participation in public and political life, and employment opportunities all tend to favour boys and young men. Yet no country can achieve its sustainable development goals without the participation of women.

Project objectives
The overall aim of the project is to support the transformation of the economic sphere, so that young girls and women have more opportunities to fulfil their potential, particularly through vocational and entrepreneurial training. Education, increased economic opportunities and advocacy for policy change are all tools on the road to empowering young women.
Our actions
Strengthening entrepreneurship and employment opportunities for women, particularly from ethnic minorities, is a method of empowerment that has been successfully tested by Action Education in various countries. Women beneficiaries are supported through a system of small grants coupled with mentoring workshops of previous beneficiaries and support.
In practice, this means, for example, :
- the construction of a fish pond
- building a henhouse
- the manufacture of bags sold on the Japanese market by the State
- the manufacture of brooms sold on markets
Key figures
